One of the tasks for the Culture Module assignment: Blogging, is to customize the platform you are using to write blog posts. Nearly half a semester in, it’s definitely something I have needed to do.
I’m using WordPress for my site. Within WP you can find upwards to 4-thousand themes to choose from for your page. I always knew I wanted my page to look clean, simple, and easy to navigate.
The theme I was originally using is called Pokama Lite.

I chose it because the font looks modern and organized. However, it ultimately had issues. For example, the normal-sized font is too small, and one size up too large. Another issue I found with this theme is breaking up the paragraphs. No matter how many paragraph breaks I added to my posts they always appeared as one single post, as Professor Whalen mentioned in his feedback for one of my assignments. Belowe is an example of Pokama Lite in use.
I changed the theme to Fluid Basics. In the video below I go over some of the differences between my current theme and Pokama Lite. The most notable changes are the clear breaks in the paragraphs which I’m very happy with.
Next I will show you how I created the drop down menu.
