Our group worked on the following two questions for our Web Literacy Project:
– Does SPAM cause cancer?
Devin and I were tasked to cover the Issues and Analysis portion of the assignment for the question, “Does SPAM cause cancer?” Our group decided the answer to this question is “No.” We did not find enough information or studies to claim otherwise. Because information was limited whether claiming SPAM to be cancerous or not, I found this assignment to be more difficult than the other.
– Are millennials finding it hard to transition into adulthood?
I was tasked to cover the origin to the questions, “Are Millennials finding it hard to transition into adulthood.” This was easier to find because NBC News embedded a link to the U.S. Census Bureau that had the report that discussed the differences of young adult experiences from 1975 to 2016. The report itself did not use the term “millennial” but did list the ages of 18-34 during the years 2012 to 2016. The report points out the differences in timing of traditional young adult experiences between the two eras. The report claims differences in economic standing and education in today’s young adults is the reason for “delayed” adult experiences such as marriage, having children, and living on their own.
